Parent Voice: School of Rock

 Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who supported the the Drama and Music Departments, as they worked tirelessly to produce The School of Rock!  Here are just some of the positive comments sent into the school:

Dear Mr Harrington-Tucker and Mr Drake
Now that things have calmed down after the excitement of last week we wanted to write and say what an amazing performance School of Rock was.  The students were awesome and had clearly put in a Herculean effort.  It was a truly memorable show to go and watch.  None of it would have been possible without the time and effort that you and all the staff involved dedicated to making it happen - a huge thank you!
As with Little Shop of Horrors, we were blown away by the professionalism of the show again this year.  On several occasions we had to remind ourselves that we were watching a school performance and not a professionally produced show or even a production put together by a dedicated drama / music college.  The confidence and skills of the lead actors truly did their characters justice and the supporting actors exhibited talent and confidence well beyond their young years.  The energy that Nathan put into the role of Dewey was unbelievable.  The music and choreography brought everything to life and provided the extra pizzazz.  On top of all that the set, costumes and tech were quite outstanding.
It was very encouraging to see so many of the students at Winston involved in the show and we are truly lucky to have a school with such engaged, inclusive and active drama and music departments.  Keep up this fantastic work.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to yourself and the team, you were the most polite and welcoming group I have had in the Rhoda for a good long while! Also you bought me gin which goes a long way to ingratiating yourselves ðŸ˜›

Please do come back next year, and if there is ever anything I can help with please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Dear Mr Harrington-Tucker, Mr Penfold and all staff who were involved in 'School of Rock',

I am writing to express our sincere appreciation for all you did to make the school production an  absolute phenomenon. The show was so totally mind-blowing that I could not hold my tears the whole way through.
Although Vivi started joining the group much later, we could sense that she not only loved it, but enjoyed being part of a team to achieve something that they all were aiming for together.
This would not succeed without you all who spent days and nights to plan, rehearse and lead the children.
Thank you so so much for giving Vivi an amazing opportunity and us a proud parent moment.

We wish you a very restful half term.

Thank you so much for our invite this morning! We absolutely loved it and the kids did you proud. It is always fantastic to see how much they grow with you guys but what a pleasure to see Emilia, Alice & Evie with such brilliant parts. It was like Pirbright bingo so a big shout out to Joshua Forest, John Broomfield, Joshua Brinicombe, Isla Tartari, Bella Handyside (absolutely brilliant!), Buzz East, Taylor Hargrave and I am sure I have missed off many more who have grown so much I can't recognise them. A really fabulous show - best one ever I'd say!
Congratulations!

I just wanted to email to say thank you for the invite. We were all blown away by the standard of the performance. They were amazing!
We know these things take a great deal of backstage work so a big congratulations to the whole team. You must be proud. Our year 5s (and teachers) have come back to school with big smiles on their faces and thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Winston Churchill rocks!

IT WAS INCREDIBLE, the casting, the props, the stage, the songs, the outfits, the choreography, the list goes on. watching it got me smiling the entire time and seeing some of those singing performances made my heart sink (in a good way). firstly, abigail van orden. THAT GIRL HAS VOCALS!!! hearing her voice gave me literal shivers. secondly, Nathan. holy smokes that guy is incredibly talented. he has so much talent not only in acting but in singing as-well as. also, props to sienna beswick for performing that beautiful solo. i cried because of that song. not only because it was beautiful, but because i knew that person and i knew the talent she had but hearing it on stage just made me feel so emotional. i'm so proud to know these amazing actors/actresses and you have made an EXTRAORDINARY performance. i genuinely felt like i was watching a west end show.
i just want to say thank you for this, this show is one of the best things ive ever experienced in my life and i would do ANYTHING to watch it again and again and again. so thank you.
sorry i just really want people to know how amazing this show was.

I just wanted to say what an amazing time we had last night seeing the production. The effort that staff, actors and technicians put in is incredible. The production was brilliant and worthy of the main theatre! Some of the singing was so good we could imagine those young people on the stage in the West End.
Thank you for organising this and all the support you have given the young people. I know Natasha has loved every moment of it.

Just wanted to say Thank you.
The show was fantastic.
Emma had a great time and I wanted to Thank you for the encouragement and opportunities that you gave Emma.
This will definitely be one of her favourite memories of Winston and she has been full of praise for you and your team as well as making lots of new friends.

On behalf of the staff and students here at the Hermitage can I say a huge congratulations
for your production this year. The children had a great time and were buzzing when they left
the theatre. It is always lovely to see formal pupils flourish even if some of them have changed
almost beyond recognition.
Your drama and music departments do your students proud.

We had the governors at School of Rock last night, my second time as I also came on Wednesday when Steffan was doing tech.

When I was in 6th form back in the 1980s, in my last year we did Grease as the college production. Pretty much all of my friends from those days are now scattered all over the place and so we hardly ever meet up but when we do at some point of the evening someone will start with “do you remember when…..” and 99 times out of a hundred it will be something that happened in rehearsals or during the production or even the after party for Grease. I get that grades and results are important to schools but so are making memories and friendships and in 40 years time there will be adults saying to each other “do you remember when….” and it will be about School of Rock.

On behalf of the governors can I just say a huge thanks and congratulations to you, your team and all the students. We are absolutely in awe of what you have achieved. All the best for the rest of the run, I’m back on Saturday and can’t wait.

I just wanted to write and say what a wonderful time us governors had at the show last night. What a fabulous accolade for the school!I kept having to remind myself that it was a school production, because it is so much more than that! So many fabulous characters, performances and musicians.

What a credit to Mr H-T, Mr Drake, all the children involved, and everyone else who helped make it all possible. They must all be so proud of the final product!

Looking forward to seeing it again tomorrow - this time to see my daughter in the ensemble.

Wishing you a wonderful half term break.

Dear THT, as I am told you’re called! I spoke to you briefly at the end tonight but I just wanted to email to say, that I saw this for the second time tonight and LOVED it as much as the first time. I laughed all the way through!Special shout outs to Duey, Patti, Ned, Summer and Miss Mullins. A couple of my favourite bits were when Patti sang to Duey, when the red and black feathers came out (I don’t know his name!) and all of the Duey scenes! All the cast were so brilliant, I want to go every day!!!!

Well done everyone!
