 Year 7 Art Lessons

More Gorgeous colours and beautiful patterns shown in these completed Year 7 Art designs. Such lovely work brightens up even the rainiest of days in February this week!

Well done everyone in 7CF & 7CR  Mrs Pinion

Key Stage 4 Music Recital

The setting was Performance Space and the programme was a selection of our Key Stage 4 students, presenting pieces that demonstrated their skill and talent.

The depth and quality of the twenty-four different performances showcased the strength of our Music Department and the work that they do to inspire young people.

It was a joy to sit and enjoy the music and also, to hear the support that the students gave there peers.  Well done to all of our performers and to the staff team.  It is also important to recognise the excellent work of Will and his Tech Team.

Winston Rocks Woking

 A Standing Ovation

Before half-term, students at The Winston Churchill School completed their run of 'School of Rock' at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking.

As staff, we were in awe of the student's dedication and passion throughout the week. The cast and crew worked hard to use the space at the Rhoda professionally and politely while maintaining the high standards expected of those working at the theatre. The show itself was definitely a challenge, with a run time of two hours and fifty minutes and it certainly put the performers and backstage team to the test.

The technical teams, under the leadership of Mr. Major, went all out this year. Working with our best microphones yet, they wrestled with 24 radio frequencies throughout the performance. This is a feat that would rival many professional theatres. Leading to a dazzling display of lights and sound that several months to programme was Will (year 11).

The student leadership team worked tirelessly backstage this year to run the show from start to finish. I cannot praise them enough for their hard work and effort. Students took responsibility for every facet of the production including set logistics, stage management, frequency management, costume, props, producing, event management, sound, theatre management, choreography, vocal health and so much more. I am in awe of their dedication and relentless passion for the shows.

The cast themselves brought a special level of care and attention to each scene this year. Having worked for months on blocking and songs, they took to the stage with a special energy that made each part of the play shine whenever a new character entered from the wings. The pit band, working with Mr. Drake, played flawlessly throughout the entire piece, bringing a well-deserved praise each evening.

The Rhoda McGaw theatre commented on how well the students did throughout the week. With some staff sneaking in the back to catch a sneak peak throughout the nine show run. I cannot praise the students enough for their professionalism and conduct throughout the week. We have been so grateful for all the kind messages of praise from the community and the cast have hugely appreciated every single comment.

We would like to thank you, as parents, for joining us for our first sell out run. The applause, support and standing ovations mean so much to the cast and crew. I am very proud of what your children have achieved and consider myself lucky to have worked with so many talented and resourceful students.
