GCSE Results 2015

Congratulations to Year 11

The waiting was over for Year 11, as they collected their results on Thursday morning.  All the hard work had paid off and the majority of students were delighted with their outcomes.  Results vary from year to year depending on the cohort but we are delighted that as a school we are able to  consistently maintain the high standards and achieve the demanding targets, set by the Governors and the Local Authority, in recent years.  We are currently awaiting some results which are pending, however, I anticipate a minimum outcome of 60% 5A*-C including English and Maths, reflecting the ability profile of the cohort.  As you are aware there is a focus on the top end grades and this is reflected in the following headlines:
  • The cohort achieved 6% above the school's target for A* and A grades.
  • A*/A passrate of 25.5%, a slight increase on last year.
  • 137 students achieved at least one A*/A grade.
  • 21% achieved 5 or more A*/A grades.
  • 13% achieved 8 or more A*/A grades.
  • 70% of all grades were A*-C.
  • 30 % of students out-performed the government's progress targets in English.
  • 32% of students out-performed the government's progress targets in Maths.
It should be noted that the school puts the needs of the students above the league table position based on the latest government requirements.

Winston also encourages all of its students to enrich their learning at Key Stage 4, and alongside their GCSE results many students have also participated in sport, music, drama, public speaking, community service and leadership activities. This considerably enhances their achievements at Key Stage 4, broadening their skills and better preparing them for advanced studies.
Congratulations and thanks are also due to our expert specialist staff and to our most supportive parents.
 Outstanding results were achieved by: Robert Penman-12 A*s, Thomas Hammond-14 A*s and a top score in Maths nationally, Harry Orrin-12 A*s, Danielle Ariyo-Francis-12 A*s, Filip Ivanovic-9A*s/2As, Kamila Wisniewska-8A*s/4As, Jumana Mihell-Mufti-8A*s/2As, Robyn Hartwell-8A*s/2As, Naomi Ehigie-7A*s/5As, Joel Gunn-7A*s/4As, Cameron Smith-6A*/4As, Freddie Fisk-5A*s/6As
