Holiday Work

Revision Classes

Students are being given every opportunity to fine tune their revision throughout the Easter break.  Staff have organised revision classes in a range of subjects; today I found groups in both RE and Business Studies and yesterday there was the opportunity to join the PE sessions.  A huge thank you to all the staff who have given up their time to run classes and to those who have encouraged students to attend.

A New Opportunity

Work has started to create a small training kitchen and coffee shop within the sports centre.  The old 1980's kitchen has been removed and the walls and floor are currently being replaced.  By the end of the week the new units and equipment should be installed.  The aim is to offer an alternative course for some young people who could then seek work in the hospitality industry.  We also aim to train students heading off for university, as this could be a source of income throughout their studies.

Improving the Site

The Site Team have planned a number of improvements to our facilities, as well as routine maintenance to ensure that Winston provides the best environment possible.  The car park has been re-marked and hatched areas put in place to enable the new student entrance to come into operation in April.  The fitness suite is being decorated and additional drainage has been put into the lower patio to improve water flow.  Lighting is being replaced to ensure increased efficiency and the guttering is being cleared out.  Then there is the issue of all the clocks which need to be reset.  With only two members of the site team available this holiday, Mr Hill and Mr Hook are under pressure to get the work completed by the start of term.
