Bookbuzz Club at Winston 🕮
Bookbuzz is an engaging programme that has been developed for some students in Year 7 in order to get them excited about reading. We have two groups which meet in the library during tutor time.
We offered the students the chance to choose and keep a book they’ll love from 16 fantastic titles, newly selected each year by the Book Trusts' expert panels of librarians and teachers. The books include fiction and non-fiction titles across a range of genres and reading levels. Students were excited about the club from the moment they got the opportunity to select their new book. The club will meet every week until the end of term.
The benefits of the Bookbuzz club for our Year 7 Winston students include:
- Creates excitement around reading.
- Generates a moment of joy when the students’ individual books are received.
- Supports young people to develop the skill of book choice.
- Gives students a sense of ownership as they get to choose a book to keep.
- Increase reading motivation with expert-selected and inclusive titles.
