Pabulum, our new catering company, have been impressing students and staff with a great new food offer.
The new look to the servery as also generated interest, with a whole new grab and go area that includes plenty of hot food options. I have had the pleasure of supervising the queue and I have enjoyed listening to the views of students about the new range of food. They seem very impressed and this is confirmed, as they keep coming back for more!
All students can purchase a range of food and drinks (hot and cold) from the main canteen at Breakfast, Morning Break and Lunchtime. Main meals start from £ 2.60 and Sandwiches from £ 1.50. The meal deal route is the best way to ensure clarity over daily costs and presents the best value for money. There are a number of varied meal deals covering each of the three serving times and ranging from £ 1.80 at Breakfast, £ 1.50 at Morning Break, from £ 2.20 at Lunch time and up to £ 3.00, which would typically provide a Main Meal, a small Radnor Fruits drink and any Desert. Water is available at no cost.
Overall, a wide range of food will be available within the menu cycle, including Main Meal options, Traditional sandwiches, Jacket Potatoes, Hot Grab & Go, Hot Sandwiches, Panini’s, Cold Deli Meals, Salad Pots, Grazing Pots, Fruit pots, Deserts, Homemade Bakes and Cakes, as well as hot and cold drinks

This is probably the wettest start that we have had to a new academic year over the last 12 years! However, with the Winston competency of resilience, underpinned with some determination Year 7 had their first day with both their tutor and in lessons, along with a great lunch.
Only another 189 days to go until they graduate into Year 8.
Here is a few of the images taken on the first day at Winston.
Over the last 10 years there has been a determined effort at Winston to develop the best and innovative learning environment for our students.
Discovery Space and Performance Space are statement building projects but there has been a focus on the classroom environment including the new maths rooms, food technology, glass walls and new IT rooms.
This holiday we have made further strides in improving our facilities:
Textiles: this brand new design is aimed at inspiring our young people, while making good use of the space. Bespoke sewing machine stations and other work areas, should allow for a learning space that reflects colleges. The lighting has been placed to ensure that the environment is safe, with acoustic boards to dampen the sound of the machines and there is a spectacular showcase window onto the sports drive.
The new look to the canteen, with a brand new food offer.
Building four classrooms to replace the condemned buildings.
Re-painted the small gym.
Changes to the Art Corridor, upstairs.
And, of course, the fireproofing to the science tower. I am not including images as they only show the scaffolding!
