Welcome to PE Year 7
... as we start our rotation of introductory PE lessons at Winston, 7C/PE enjoyed their experience with the RISE UP project.
Repeaters - our legs felt like they were on fire as we completed the fully track of the sally squat challenge!
Intensive Team work- was explored in our previous warm up lesson as linked groups of students completed a variety of challenges!
Stress busters: a massive groan pleaser as Year 7 put on the boxing gloves and "let of some steam"
The E is then for energisers while all let our hair down and enjoyed a good old just dance to one direction and walking Macarena.
A Morning at Kew Gardens
On Monday the 15th of September, Year 10 and 11 Art, Photography and Textiles students visited a very windy Kew Gardens. Despite having to leave early due to the wind, students were able to gather a range of primary resources for their GCSE coursework projects. Students were able to draw, photograph and experiment with a range of chosen materials whilst using their surroundings as their subject matter.
Whilst focusing on Natural forms, students were able to see how the structures of the glass houses support the plants and see the contrast between man made and nature. We were also able to see art work by Artist Marianne North where students created some observational drawings and other larger instillations around Kew Gardens such as The Hive- Where the group photograph has been taken and structures in the carbon garden.
