Stepping Up to Success

 Assembly: Stepping Up, Stepping Out

Students and staff know that when it is the week of my assembly there is going to be something different to engage and to make a point.  Remember 'Strings' and 'Happy'?

Well last week's title, 'Step Up', offered the perfect opportunity to showcase our 'Tap Squad'.  I first saw them perform during 100 Years of Musicals in the summer term and was impressed with their skills and their level of ability.

So I approached Ms Fletcher with the concept for the assembly and together with the students they put together an interpretation of the slides with appropriate  music.  The performance was based around tap dancing but included sign language and the students also had some lines to deliver.

It was amazing, with lights and staging, plus beautiful, dazzling jackets the students helped to propose a challenge to all students, that it is good to step out of your comfort zone to support and help others. That staying in your comfort zone keeps you safe but keeps you small.

Thank you to Ms Fletcher and to our Tap Squad for putting so much work into this event.  You certainly made an impact.
