Inspiring Leadership

Congratulations

Congratulations to all the children and their Year 10 mentors for completing the Toe by Toe Literacy programme.   Certificates were presented to all those involved by Deputy Headteacher, Mr Davis.

Literacy Leaders in Action

Two of our literacy leaders have presented a literacy starter today, first to Miss Lister’s, then to Mrs Markham’s year 7 history classes, the subject was commas. They created and delivered the mini lesson and Miss Lister says they did a fantastic job as you can see below. They also then taught the same lesson to Mrs Markham’s group. The girls have really taken the initiative here, they came for a practice and some tips early this morning with me before the lessons, and the result of their work is that they have really helped the year 7 students with their literacy.

Enterprise day: Year 10

The Science and Maths Departments ran two excellent Enterprise experiences for all students in Year 10.  The aim of the project was to build a bridge that would hold the weight of our Head of Science, Mr Lawson!  Students had to form a company, design and build an efficient, cost effective bridge using materials that had to be purchased.  It was then necessary for the company to design a website and pitch their product. Thank you to our amazing teams of staff who find the energy at the end of a busy year to deliver such inspirational sessions.  I should say that Mr Lawson survived the experience and some of the bridges held his weight!
