Year 8 Developing Their Skills
Year 8 have been continuing to look at abstract art during this term, they have been analysing the artist Reggie Laurent who creates contemporary art that focuses on shape, line and colour to represent the 'diversity and inclusion of every culture'. The students have been learning how to create clay tiles focusing on their use of shape and have been painting them with bold, vivid colours to mirror the style of Laurent. The year 8 students have been really engaged and have produced outcomes individual to themselves. The art department are excited to create a display with the completed tiles around the school.
Year 9 Working Independently
During this first half of the Summer term, Mrs Prangley's Year 9 classes have expanded their investigation into close-up perspectives and have been learning how to plan and create larger outcomes. The students have been creating pieces both individually and collaboratively in groups, with the freedom of choice over their preferred medium. The project has been very successful so far, with the students being enthusiastic about pushing themselves to create larger scale, more refined pieces of work, as well as working together to produce beautiful outcomes. Seeing what Year 9 can create, on a more independent project, has been really impressive, ending this half term on a high.
