Thinking of Others

Macmillan Coffee Morning

In preparation for our Macmillan fundraising coffee morning, over thirty invitations were sent out (via email and post) to the parents and carers of the students who are eligible to attend our ‘Start the day right’ intervention, to come along for coffee and cake whilst the children took advantage of the breakfast provided by our school canteen and our local Co-Op.  Lisa who is the Deputy Manager at the local Co-Op store was kind enough to make a very generous donation for our coffee morning which included freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolats, coffee, mince pies and cookies all delivered to the school.

The students spent the morning decorating gingerbread men and a pre bought cake with the Winston Churchill school badge, which was the students own idea. This was sold along with cakes donated from staff in the Macmillan Coffee morning for all staff to purchase.  Thank you to Mark Salmon from Sainsbury’s who was kind enough to donate a £15.00 voucher to make this possible.

We are delighted to have created an excellent link with Lisa and the Co-Op who have agreed to continue to help support our school and the local food bank with regular donations of produce from their store.

A fun filled morning for these students and very rewarding to know that all the money raised has gone towards a very worthy charity.

Staff at the school also attended a coffee morning to raise funds for this very worthwhile cause and have been able to send off a cheque for £180.
