Warner Brothers Studio Tour
On the 28th November, Film Studies students experienced the excitement of the Warner Brothers Studio tour and workshop.
First they took part in an interactive session where they learned about the varied roles within the film Industry and were able to handle the props and documents used in the actual films.
Next they took part in the tour itself; seeing the props, set designs, costumes and creature creations and as they were so close to December, the studios had undergone a festive transformation!

'GOAL Getters'

On Monday 2nd December we were invited to participate in Chelsea FC's 'GOAL Getters' programme. The aim of the day, at their Stamford Bridge football ground, was to tailor a carousel of different activities to help promote confidence, self-esteem and a healthy motivation in young women.

The morning began with an energetic set of football-based sporting challenges and games, all emphasising the importance of an active, healthy lifestyle. The next carousel had the girls thinking about what a healthy lifestyle means to them. Chelsea FC's Enterprise Manager took this session and helped to coach our students on the stages needed to create a story, to sell an idea through persuasive narrative and how to solve a problem with a solution.

After realising their potential they then progressed to an interactive discussion around defining confidence, self-esteem and resilience. They spoke about how perception is sometimes different from reality but how we can all overcome situations and remember how to cope, control and use our emotions to adapt and gain a positive outcome.

After lunch the girls took part in a presentation about inclusion and discussed facts on the history of women's football. They all loved the Kahoot quiz at the end to see how good their memory skills are. All the topics and information gathered from the different carousels were then used as building blocks to create a 90 second business pitch which they had to present in their teams to a 100 strong audience and a panel of judges.

In their teams they collaborated to create a business plan detailing how they are going to encourage secondary school aged young women to develop a healthy lifestyle. The judging panel consisted of Chelsea FC's Marketing & Sponsorship Manager, their Enterprise Manager and Claire Rafferty - ex-Chelsea, West Ham and England footballer; a World Cup bronze medallist; and a Team GB Olympian.

They were very impressed by our Year 7 team who stepped out of their comfort zone to present their idea of an inclusive exercise app called 'Sports Rewardz'. This was linked to a reward scheme which donated some money to charity and the rest went towards the user redeeming points for prizes. Great initiative girls!

Thank you to the whole team at Chelsea FC Foundation for including us in their education program and especially to all of our KS3 girls who represented the school and themselves in a positive way.
