Year 9 Learning How to Stay Safe
We were delighted to welcome a number of facilitators to our Be Smart Be Safe Day. The students experienced a number of workshops aimed at helping them to have a better understanding of the challenges they face in life and how to make sound decisions, to reduce the impact on their health and wellbeing. The sessions included:
Growing Against Violence (GAV) is a charity that aims to prevent youth violence and protect young people against exploitation by gangs and grooming both on the streets and online. They ran a session called Myths and Misconceptions.
The School of Sexuality, contributing to our Relationships and Sex Education Programme.
Sharon Girling, running workshops regarding online safety and how to protect yourself from abuse.
Mr Gunoo and Mr Philcox running workshops on the effects of drinking alcohol and that we all need to know our limits.
Gamcare, a programme aimed at arming young people with the skills and resilience necessary to make decisions about their participation in gambling in the future.
