Performing Arts Awards Evening

🎺 Celebrating Achievement 🎭

Last Thursday, students and staff from the Performing Arts family at Winston celebrated the success of their students by hosting the Performing Arts Awards in the new performance space.

Students who have worked with both Drama and Music throughout their time at Winston got the chance to support each other in a series of awards covering both departmental commendations and the main school production of Little Shop of Horrors. Nominees enjoyed their own refreshments in a special seating area with a photographer and each nomination had been delivered two weeks previously by a golden envelope throughout the school day.
The technology in the new space allowed the event to take new form. With nominees enjoying a personalised approach to each award and live reactions being captured by the dynamic cameras around the venue and lighting following each winner.
The students fully embraced the feeling of community by supporting each other throughout the evening and arrived at the event by observing the smart dress code. The awards, presented by staff from both departments, ranged from categories such as Best Actor (won by Dom S), Best Actress (taken by Emma H) and Best Vocal Performance (Seven H), followed by the highest recognition from each faculty; The M.U.S.I.C Award (Jack A) and Outstanding Contribution to Drama (awarded to Emma H).

It was wonderful to see the success of each student celebrated, most of which have been committed to their chosen discipline of the Performing Arts since their arrival in year 7, getting the chance to recognise the hard work and efforts of those within the school community.
