Food Technology Rooms in Action
Class 7D1 was set the task of designing and making a Poke Bowl . A Poke Bowl (pronounced “poe-kay”) is a Hawaiian rice bowl that has raw fish, usually tuna, served on top of rice, vegetables, and other toppings.
Students were asked to ensure that they used a carbohydrate base , a variety of vitamin and mineral enriched salad ingredients and a protein of their choice. This was their first practical lesson and one that is delivered to ensure that students learn to use a variety of equipment and show a range of skills.
They were extremely excited to use one of the new Food Rooms, that enables students to work in a spacious , inviting and ergonomically well-designed environment.
I was very impressed with the student's organisation, their resilience at problem solving and their teamwork when clearing away.
