Amazing Achievements

National Rocket Challenge

I was delighted to share breaktime with the team of students who took part in the National Physics laboratory Water Rocket Challenge. As can be seen in the photograph, the team won the Flight Duration Award.  The students were very animated as they described how they developed their rocket before the competition and then how they set about the new challenges they faced on the day.

 Catering at Winston

I thought that you would enjoy seeing pictures of the servery today – celebrating armed forces weekend.  Catering Academy have won the contract to provide the food service at Winston for the next three years and are planning to invest a considerable sum of money to develop the servery area in the hall and to create a second service point on the patio.  More details will follow soon.

Geography in the Field

I came across two Geography groups on Wednesday, making excellent use of the fine weather to complete some sketching work and to investigate micro-climates.

Year 7 Food Technology

Year 7 had the opportunity to make an item of their choice on Friday.  As you can see from the images below, the outcomes look delicious. Mrs Vadi said 'Their enthusiasm to present food that displayed their skills was lovely to see.  We had rich decadent brownies, falafels, lemon drizzle cake, raspberry trifle,  pistachio flapjack, banana & chocolate chunk cookies, oatmeal cookies  and freshly made short crust pastry for the jam tarts.'       Well done Year 7!

The students below were making shortbread.
