Welcome to Her Honour Judge Leigh
Students had an amazing opportunity to meet a Crown Court Judge in our assemblies this week. Her Honour Judge Leigh addressed the students via a live video link, from Basildon Crown Court and answered questions about our justice system. Mrs Southern arranged this event and was able to link our current justice system of a fair trial and the jury structure to the clauses in the Magna Carta.

Welcome to Ian Rose
On Wednesday all G&T PE & Dance Students and some Year 7 and 8 students, had a judo session and a motivational talk with former British Para Olympic Athlete Ian Rose. Ian was a torchbearer and Opening Ceremony performer for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, winner of 2 Paralympic, 5 World Championship and 9 European Championship Medals, Ian is one of Great Britain’s most successful Paralympic Judoka. Retiring in 2011, Ian was on course to represent ParalympicsGB at his 6th Games in London, but due to an injury in training Ian called it a day, bringing to an end an International career spanning 22 years at the top. Ian now focusses on motivating and inspiring others to achieve their full potential.
Law Workshop
Selected students, from Years 9 and 10, had the opportunity to find out about about the different aspect of English law and the career opportunities available in this field. Working in groups students were set tasks with the aim of introducing some of the complexities of our legal system, which in turn might inspire young people to investigate possible career routes.
