What is Happening?

Information Evenings

We welcomed parents from Year 8 - 11 to information evenings this week.  These sessions are held early in the term in order that parents can support their child from the start of the school year.  The sessions contained information that was year group specific and were very well attended.  year 7 Information Evening is on Thursday 22nd September.

Freshers' Fair

Year 7 all visited Freshers' Fair this morning.  This event helped students to find out which clubs and activities take place both before and after school.  Students had the opportunity to see the full range in one place, talk to the students already involved in the clubs and then to sign up for taster sessions.  I expect every student to find something that they would like to participate in; this helps in making new friends and getting to know our prefects and older students. As you can see from the images below, there is something for everyone.

Assemblies This Week

Assemblies this week have been based on the need to leave negative feelings behind and focus on the opportunities being offered.  We want all of our students to thrive and grow and benefit from the opportunities offered both inside the classroom and beyond.
The game of snakes and ladders was used to illustrate that life can throw a number of challenges our way, the important thing is how we deal with them.

Mrs Mellor and Mr Parsons were the Team Managers.

Snakes and Ladders representing the ups and downs in life.

Mrs Mellor's team won both games!
