Lessons at Winston

  GCSE Crematorium visit

Our new GCSE Photography students have been given the opportunity to visit the crematorium gardens.  Luckily the rain held off for our visit !!!

All students were engaged and impeccably behaved and managed to get a wide variety of photographs for the beginning of their GCSE Project.

Year 7 Forces and Motion

Students were given the opportunity to build on their Year 6 science learning by investigating air resistance, as part of their forces and motion topic.  They used parachute spinners.  7WS demonstrated  their transferable skills to analyse sample size and anomalous results, with the guidance of Mr Philcox.

They looked at the repeating method, to improve accuracy when taking measurements.  Then identified anomalous results which they could easily spot in the data and discard as necessary leading to a more accurate calculation of the mean. This has been a fantastic preparation lesson for future GCSE requirements - obtaining,  analysing and evaluating results.
