New Building Approved

 The Performance Space Development

I am delighted to announce that the Governors have signed a contract to build Performance Space.  This will more that double the size of the Churchill Suite and create a high quality space for music, drama and dance.  The technology incorporated within the space will produce outstanding acoustics and digital presentations.

Our aim at Winston is to produce new facilities to the highest possible standard, to benefit learning throughout the day and for extra curricular activities. The Music Department are keen to use the new space to rehearse our 135 strong orchestra and the180 students in our choir.  It will be an excellent space for recital evenings and small performances such as the 30 minute Shakespeare plays.

The school has raised the money to build this facility, under the careful management of Mr Phillips, our school Business Manager.  It has taken four years to raise the funds and we are now looking to raise more money to provide equipment such as TV cameras to broaden and enrich our curriculum offer and to make as much use of this new facility as possible.

The project includes some up-grading of the Rosla Block and part of the costs have gone into creating brand new, covered bike storage.

This building project is going to cause some disruption to the school for a period of about 10 months but the long term benefits will be enjoyed by our students. I will keep you up-dated with the progress of this exciting project.
