A Wonderful Evening of Music
On Thursday 6th March the Music Department held two recital events, for Years 8 and 9. In the past we have held a Key Stage 3 evening but due to the large number of students from lower school wanting to perform the decision was made to hold separate events for each year group. First up were our Year 8 students and the standard of each of the 15 performances was exceptional, from Millie (who opened the recital on her violin accompanied by her teacher and Year 11 student Amelia) right the way through to the band of Spike, Kurt, Lucas and Max who finished the recital performing Lithium by Nirvana.
An hour later and it was the turn of the Year 9 students and again the audience were treated to 20 fantastic performances. The recital opened with the premier of Blue Water (a composition written by Ben and performed with Coen and Leon), and finished with Violet performing on the drum kit. Other performances included Lieke, Hazel, Evie and April playing their own arrangement of Can You Feel The Love Tonight for 3 clarinets and harp.
Every student that took part in the two recitals should be exceptionally proud of their performance as each was of such high quality. They should also be commended for their enthusiasm and encouragement for each other throughout the evening.
A huge thank you to our Tech Team, who helped to showcase this event.
We are now looking forward to our Key Stage 4 Recital Evening on Thursday 20th March, our annual Arts Awards Evening on 21st March, and our eagerly awaited Battle of the Bands on 25th March. Details of the Year 7 Recital, which will take place early next term, will also be released in the next few weeks.
