Finding a Solution Together

As Year 7 head towards the end of a busy year, students in Winston Extra lessons are being reminded of the links between the skills and the competencies.

Using the platform of puzzle construction- which were not quite as they first appeared, the students had to collaborate with others and show resilience to complete the puzzle.

These puzzles do not show you the final picture but you need to use both analysis and ingenuity to find the solution, while communicating effectively with each other. Each student throughout the lesson had to add statements to each of the competencies where possible using the key skills within them.

The Scrap Heap Challenge

Mrs Smith class hit the scrap heap challenge with enthusiasm. Two lessons using off-cuts of wood and their creativity, the Year 7 students worked in pairs to design and create their scrap heap models.

This group of students have so much talent, there was little to no teacher input within their designs, they all consolidated what they have learnt over the last term and half and are all super proud of their creations!

I wonder what they will create in the summer holiday?
