Term Ends

Celebration Assemblies

At the end of each term students have the chance to celebrate the success of individuals and groups, recognising that 'getting it right' has its rewards.
The assembly reflects all aspects of school life and recognises academic achievement, sporting achievement, excellent attendance and achievement points.  It also includes musical performances, showcasing a wealth of talent.

Students come to the stage to collect certificates and receive congratulations from their peers.  At Winston we publically recognise and celebrate success.

Well done to everyone in each of the Year groups for the contribution they have made this term.

Year 7 Celebration Assembly

Year 7 boys demonstrating the Hand Jive they had perfected during PE Lessons.
Year 7 students who had been nominated for awards during the spring term.
Well done Year 7, you have made a great start to your journey through Winston.

Screen Test

Year 11 GCSE Drama students took part in a Screen-test workshop on Thursday, March 26th, led by Iain Patterson, Head of Performing Arts at Brooklands College in Weybridge.
This proved to be a wonderful opportunity for our students to spend time with Iain exploring the process of auditioning for Film and TV roles. Iain’s workshop gave the students clear techniques that they can use when they come to screen-test in the future, exactly the same as it is done in the industry. This was a practical workshop which allowed all of the students to have a go in front of camera as well as ask Iain questions about life as a working actor and the issues relating to applying to Drama school at 18.
Pictured at her screen test, and being interviewed by Iain Patterson, is Year 11 Drama student Samantha Harvey, who is joining the Italia Conti Arts Centre in Guildford in September.

 Afternoon  Tea

The gifted and talented food students produced an amazing range of delicious afternoon tea items for the Senior Leadership Team to enjoy before their meeting.  The high level of skill and creativity was impressive, as was the taste and the texture of each dish.  It was difficult to get the work done with so many lovely things to try!  Thank you students, I am already looking forward to next year as you just keep getting better and better.
Thanks also to Mrs Ballam for working with the group and giving them the confidence to develop their skills.

Rugby at Winston

The annual memorial rugby match, played between Winston and Woking High was played on Thursday, after school.  The Winston team were outstanding, building up an impressive score.

Remembering Leo

Some year 9 students planted a tree in memory of Leo Trice who passed away 24th March 2013. They were joined by the Trice family, Mr & Mrs Trice, Max, Jack and Ella. He was fantastic member of our year group and is sorely missed.
