Assemblies at Winston

Assemblies This Week

Our students have been introduced to the Library Project and have had the opportunity to understand the reasoning behind the plans and the impact that it will have on them and their learning.  They had the opportunity to watch a film of a walk through of the building, which enable them to visualise some of the opportunities that the project will create for them and their families.

Please help us to make this a reality by going to our website and finding out how you can support this project for your child.

Assemblies Next Week

In assembly next week students will be hearing about the need for Emotional Intelligence in order to develop resilience when facing tough challenges. There are 5 areas of Emotional Intelligence - Self-Awareness; Self-Regulation; Motivation; Empathy and Social Skills.  As part of the assembly and in tutor time students will be trying some meditation exercises to improve their Self-Awareness and Self-Regulation.  In addition, they will each be given a stimulus question to take home and discuss with someone at home. These questions are to help them develop Social Skills and Empathy.  When your son/daughter asks you one of these questions please discuss it with them and challenge them to consider what they are learning about you and themselves.  There is a list of a few questions below to encourage future discussion with your son/daughter and to help them develop aspects of their Emotional Intelligence.  Once you have discussed the question please make a note in their planner to confirm this and they will gain an achievement point.

What are the three most interesting things about you?
If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
If you had a time machine for a day, what would you do with it?
What is a quality you wish you could have more of?
If you could ask anyone for help, who would it be and why?
What scares you the most and why?
What makes you feel better?
What do you worry about the most?
