Sweet Statistics!
GCSE Statistics students carried out whole school research into a topic close to students' hearts...sweets!
As part of a retail simulation, the students needed to find out preferences for types of sweets and set about surveying several hundred of their peers during Thursday lunchtime.
Large scale data collection takes good planning and between them they thought through how to recruit volunteers, manage them and record their preferences without introducing bias or unnecessarily wasting time.
Using the Performance space meant that they could keep participants separate and prevent them influencing each others' choices, making the results more representative of the population.
