Remembrance
On Monday, the 11th of November the whole school assembled on the patio, just before 11 am.
Respectfully, in silence, the students listened to some poems read by our Head Students Anirudh and Amarah.
The Last Post was played by four students, Amelia (Y9), Elsie (Y9), James (Y8) and Eleanor (Y7), supported by Mr Drake, Director of Music. This was the first time these students prepared and played the Last Post.
Students then stood in silence for two minutes reflecting on the sacrifice that our fallen soldiers have made. Students were reminded that war continue, both civil and between nations, around the world and that in 2024 it is incredibly shocking and disappointing that we turned to violence rather than talking through our differences.
The Head Students then later laid a wreath on the memorial garden outside of Discovery Space.
I'm incredibly proud of our students and the way in which they respected our ceremony today. Respect is the theme of Anti-bullying Week.
It is rare that we can bring the whole school together but this act of community reflection was both moving and poignant.
