We are delighted to announce that The Winston
Churchill School Drama Department has been chosen to be in the National Theatre
Connections 2016 Festival, taking part as one of only 500 schools, sixth form
colleges and Universities from across the country.
Connections 2016 is celebrating 21 years of specially
commissioned, original and challenging plays for students in the UK aged 13-19.
We will be performing on the Main stage here in school in late February/early
March 2016 and then transferring our production to one of the Connections 2016
partner theatres across the UK.
As part of Connections 2012, we performed ‘Victim,
Sidekick, Boyfriend, Me’ at the Oxford Playhouse ( directed by Simon Donaldson
) and last year we were privileged to perform ‘The Boy Preference’ at the Soho
Theatre in London ( directed by Samantha Remnant ).
This year’s production will be directed by Thomas
Penfold and Todd Harrington-Tucker and will be produced by Simon Donaldson and
Samantha Remnant.
Auditions and first rehearsals will commence in
September and are open to all students
in Years 9, 10 and 11.
