Macbeth in a Week

The following image is of students preparing their own version of Macbeth to be performed in the school hall on Friday at 2.00pm.  When I visited rehearsals they were busy discussing costumes and props for the performance.

Activities Week – the History Department

The History and Geography departments teamed up for activities week.  Monday and Tuesday were the ‘history’ days.  On Monday the students took part in a ‘Jack the Ripper’ murder investigation and were filmed giving press releases and final verdicts to store in the Jack the Ripper archives.

On Tuesday they visited the London Dungeons where Curtis was considered to be next in line for the chief torturer job! Phoebe, Cyrus and Sharna were taken prisoner and we were introduced to a selection of gruesome torture devices.   Mrs Markham had her insides removed by the nurse in the Plague room, whilst Mr Williams was put on trial for sheep stealing.  Los and Sharna also faced a trial, but luckily we all escaped the death sentence as it was the King’s birthday.

The Sweeney Todd seats were enjoyed by everyone when they tipped us up and made everyone jump!  The students thoroughly enjoyed the gory details and learned about some of the most famous crimes and punishments in Britain’s history.
