Activities Week Day 4

Vive la France

On Wednesday students on the Vive la France package enjoyed a wonderful, albeit tiring, morning with the instructors from PARKOUR GENERATIONS. Students  practiced moves and techniques to help them traverse safely and effortlessly over and under the obstacles within our school. The instructors encouraged all students, irrelevant of their flexibility or strength, to have a go and many students were surprised at what they could do on their own or synchronised with others!

 Harry Potter World

On Tuesday 5th July, 80 students from the Journey Through Stage and Screen and Modern Myth packages took a magical trip to the Harry Potter Studios in Watford. The students wandered around Privet Drive, jumped on board the Hogwarts Express and took a stroll down Diagon Alley. All students were impeccably behaved and the day was fun for all (including the staff!)
Ella Didyk Year 7 - "Even though I had been before, it was still as enchanting as the first time."
Ella Wood Year 7 - "My favourite bit of Harry Potter was seeing Hogwarts right before my eyes, it had every detail; it was magical."
On Wednesday 6th July, the students from Journey Through Stage and Screen took a trip to London to see Wicked the Musical. The show centres around the story of the Wicked Witch of the West, made popular in 'The Wizard of Oz' and challenges our perception of the original tale; are things always as they seem...?
In the morning, we discussed the concept of villains and the reasons for why their stories go untold. We then ventured to sunny, central London and had lunch at St. James' Park before making our way to the theatre. The students were the perfect audience and came out humming along to 'Defying Gravity.'
Sophie McClatchie Year 7 - "When we all got off the coach we had a walk around London; we saw Big Ben, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace."
Cameron Stuart Year 8 - "Wicked did a perfect job of telling the untold story of 'The Wizard of Oz' and the origins of the Wicked Witch."
Mackenzie Benson Turnbull Year 7 - "It was simply magical, it really made me contemplate the love of Oz."
