Winston; Different but Together
For the first time, Winston hosted a Culture Day for Year 7. The event ran all day and it was an exciting experience for the entire year group to explore the diverse community we have at Winston.
The day sat within the work that we have been doing in Umbrella Club, celebrating our diverse, rich community.
The activities were lead by an amazing group of staff and prefects, who did an incredible job making the day memorable. Each student had a mini “passport” to keep a record of all the activities they participated in and they took this home to share with parents.
This event was planned by the student council, with support from staff, so we are thrilled to have been able to be the first group to have planned such a successful event. Again, thank you to all the staff and prefects who made this possible!

The images below include samba music making in Performance Space, the making of naan bread, sporting activities, a language challenge and a dance workshop. The canteen also supported the event with an amazing Lebanese themed lunch, delicious.
The activities culminated with a 'flash mob' dance in the hall during Year 7 lunch. It was brilliant. The film will be posted before the end of term.
