Year 8 Celebrating Christmas

 Year 8 Paperchains

As the festive season approaches, our Year 8 students got into the holiday spirit with a lively paper chain competition. The event was between the Year 8 forms and brought an air of excitement and a dash of creative chaos as students worked together to craft the longest, paper chains in the time of 10 minutes.

The energy was electric as the Year 8s dove into the activity, armed with scissors, glue, and an endless array of festive paper. Each group brought their unique flair to the task, showcasing teamwork, creativity, and an impressive level of enthusiasm.

By the end of the competition, our Year 8 covered most of the patio outside the hall with their paper chains and it was a close competition. With GHO taking the win. It was wonderful to see students collaborating, problem-solving, and fully embracing the holiday spirit.

A huge thank you to all the students and form teachers who helped make this event such a success. This activity not only added a festive touch to our school but also reminded us all of the importance of community and fun during the holiday season. Well done, Year 8—you’ve set the bar high for next year!

Live Streamed Chocolate Logs

Chocolate Swiss Rolls, bags of icing and 3 inspired year 8s from each form...what more do you need to create and Advent 'Year 8 Yule Log Collaborative Decorating competition!'  We streamed this event live to the form rooms and winners will be announced in year 8 Celebration Assembly on Thursday.
Communication, Planning, Ingenuity, overcoming stuckness...and many many more skills and competences put into place while 3 students from each form battled it out to transform their Swiss rolls.  I think there was a lot of thinking on their feet and adapting to what was happening!....  All in All GREAT EFFORT from the Year 8 again!... Well Done!

Christmas Trees

Some of the Year 8 team including Mrs Smith, Miss Dunlop, Miss Watson and Miss De Bunsen were busy at work this break time serving over 100 hot chocolates (with cream) for students who were awarded, by their form tutor, an 'Advent' Hot Chocolate Token!
Mrs Smith had no time to take photos and Mr Major who was going to take some snaps ended up refilling the water, as so many Year 8 students came through the doors with their tokens and smiles on faces!
