Winston Remembers

 Armistice Day

At 11.00am on the 11th day of the 11th month Winston stood in silence, with the rest of our country, to honour those who gave their lives for us.

We paused to remember the ultimate sacrifice paid to ensure our freedom.  However, we also reflected on the terrible cost of the violence and aggression taking place today in Ukraine, the Sudan, Gaza, Myanmar, India, Pakistan and Yemen, to name just a few.

As we wear our poppies with pride, perhaps we should consider if this is enough.  We all need to work for peace, promote peace and value every life and the freedom peace can bring.

Thank you to every member of the Winston community, the respect you demonstrated through this collective act was inspiring.  Thank you also to the students who played the last post:

Eleanor (Y8)
James (Y9)
Sam (Y9)
Aditya (Y10)

and to the Tech Team.  Students working in art produced the poppy display and this complimented the poem referring to poppies fluttering in the breeze.
